The Langstroth hive is currently the most commonly used in North America and Australia and other parts of the world. They are hives likely to be seen on roadsides or trailers.
The Langstroth hive parts is now catching on in the UK by the use of the flow hive, flow brood boxes are manufactured to Langstroth deep hive dimensions, and come with 8 or 10 brood frames.
Ten frames are more commonly used, but eight frame bodies are gaining popularity due to their lighter weight and closer match to natural bee habitat. Each hive size, whether 8 frames or 10, consists of varying box sizes, known as supers. Deeps are typically used on the bottom and contain brood; mediums and shallows are added on top to hold honey.
here at Bizzy bee honey we are now producing 5 frame langstroth Nucleus Colonies of Buckfast bees which is a starter pack of bees on langstroth frames which is ideal for the langstroth and the flow hive.
